‘Dedicated to HER’
The Creative Process:
I realized that my art is not only an expression of who I am today, but also a dialogue with all the versions of myself that came before. My love for art has always been there, a constant thread throughout my life. It began in seventh grade, when I first discovered the joy of learning new techniques in art class. I sat beside Molly, a classmate whose natural talent was undeniable. Every time we completed an exercise, I couldn’t help but glance at her work, noticing how much more refined and confident it seemed than mine. I tried, with all my effort, but I couldn’t draw like Molly. In that moment, I told myself that I was simply not good at art.
When you tell yourself something enough times, it becomes a reality, and the desire to create eventually fades. While the passion to paint never truly left, the confidence to do so was lost for years. Looking back, I wish I could have shared this journey with that seventh-grade version of myself, showing her that the beauty of art lies not in perfection, but in the courage to keep creating. This work, this collection, is for her—and for every other version of me that was learning, growing, and rediscovering the joy of creating. And so, I created:
‘Dedicated to Her.’
